What is the appeal to giving girls boy names?

I just recently noticed that people are giving boy names to girls.

Names like:

Logan

Elliott

Charlie

Jesse

Riley

Madison(means son of Maud)

Mackenzie(means son of Kenneth)

Ryan

Edison(means son of Eddie)

Addison(means son of Adam)

Grayson

Jordan

Jamie

and so many more..

Why do people give girls boy names? Did you name your daughter a boy name? If you did can you please explain why? What is the appeal to giving girls boy names?
They think it's ''unique'' without realizing that truckloads of other people are doing exactly the same thing...
Why does it matter? It is their kid so if they like boy names for girls then more power to them. I think a lot of those names are cute for girls. Plus, a lot of those names are nicknames for longer more feminine names like Charlie is usually short for Charlotte. And a lot of the names you have listed have become unisex over time and a lot of these have actually become more accepted as girls names, like Madison, Mackenzie and Addison. Jordan, Jamie, Jesse, and Riley are common unisex names. So to answer your question, I think this is a common trend because a lot of these names have just become widely accepted as both. It really isn't any of our business to judge people who choose these names. It is their business. What is the appeal to giving girls boy names?
Search me.

I think people have got this weird, mixed up vision in their head where the following are true:

1. Only masculine names are "strong"

2. It's SO CUTE and SPUNKY for a girl to have a masculine name! Because naming totally determines the kind of personality a human has!

3. They're unisex because I am insisting that they are unisex. But obviously, those names are too feminine for a boy, even though they're allegedly unisex.

There's so many wonderful feminine names out there. I don't understand this trend at all. What is the appeal to giving girls boy names?
I don't know why. I pretty much hate all those names on girls. I've gotten so used to Madison and Addison that it doesn't bother me at all and I know as many girl Jordans and Jamies as boys so that doesn't bother me. Mackenzie and Riley are alright but the rest bug me. Charlie or Jesse can be nicknames for Charlotte and Jessica (though I think Jessie would be better) but not full names. I've heard of girls named Tyler, Michael, Kenley, James, Dale, Blake, Drew, etc.
Some names are just unisex. My parents named me Harley and when you hear that name, I'm pretty sure you think of a boy or a motorcycle but I don't really care. I'd rather have a name that's unisex than have a name that's popular and have about 7 other kids in my class with that name. And besides, it's their choice on what they want their kids to be named. Maybe it has a meaning to them? If it does, then it doesn't matter what other people think of the name.
I have no idea. I really don't understand this trend. I've met girls named James and Kristopher-I think its horrid and would never do it.
I like Charlie and Riley. I also like Bobbie. I`m not sure why, I just like them.
